Over the past 4 years, Concrete has become famous for hosting quality day & night parties on its boat in Paris. It was therefore, of no great surprize to see them bring such a solid line up last Sunday.
When we arrived at the beginning of the afternoon, the resident S3A was on duty on the decks, where he seemed to play good house & techno, although I didn’t pay much attention as my target was to catch the next 3 djs scheduled for the afternoon / evening: Four Tet, Floating Points, and Jeremy Underground.
Four Tet started at around 15:00, and maintained a strong tempo with a blend of techno, UK garage and old-school house. During the last part of his 3 hours set, the dance floor was already packed and enjoying his eclectic skills. He broadened his selection and finished on some jazz and dub which clearly set the vibe perfectly for his British compatriot Floating Points.
The transition between the two was flawless. Floating Points carried on showcasing his ability to mix varied records together, focussing mainly on rare funk, disco, jazz, and dub reggae. On that day he was at the top of his game, he preserved and lifted the atmosphere until the end of his set at 22:00. The place was warm and lively, it was a great moment for any passionate of this type of music.
I was only able to catch the first 20 minutes of Jeremy Underground’s set, he followed exactly the same path and demonstrated that he fully deserved his slot. I saw him play the power hour set at Concrete in November, and was thrilled about his mixing abilities and his selection, he’s definitely one to catch if possible!
This party was an experience of its own, it was refreshing to witness such eclectic taste of music from these artists who have so much to offer. It was a day to remember and I strongly suggest anyone that has the opportunity to catch Floating Points to do so, and be prepared to dance to some groovy shit!
